Last night I watched as Pastor Rick Warren interviewed both Barack Obama and John McCain. I really enjoyed it. I found it all very interesting. I appreciate Regular Guy's thoughts on abortion and Obama. Thought you might be interested in reading it too. When we were in Costa Rica, we had a couple of opportunities when people would ask us about abortion. They were shocked and overcome with disbelief that the US actually allows such a thing. Even those of us who find it sad and horrible have become somewhat desensitized to the fact that the US has killed over 40 Million babies since Roe v. Wade. It should ruin a person's day to hear such a thing...

We watched it as well. I liked the way Rick Warren approached the question, "When does human life begin?" Obama couldn't even give a straight answer like McCain (at conception) but stumbled through his pro-choice stance. I am baffled that there are Christians who are voting for him. Thanks for the link...I am off to read it.

Marci, I think Tim sent it to Jeff and Bo via email. I want to say too, that I was very impressed with John McCain. He was more likable than I have seen him and I appreciate how quickly he answered the questions! He doesn't have to wonder about what his answer should be for this crowd. He knows that human rights should begin at conception and he said so!
I did not get to watch it, but I am wondering -- is McCain pro-life? This issue has always been the barrier for me being a McCain supporter because even though I like him, his straight talk, and his ability to think for himself, I always thought he was wishy-washy on abortion. Has this changed?

McCain has consistently voted against abortion as an Arizona senator. The best political gauge of a candidate on the life issue is to compare the responses of the organizations that champion their respective causes: Pro-Life (NLRC-National Right to Life) and Pro-Abortion/Pro-Choice (NARAL-National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League).
The NRLC reports that John McCain has cast 31 pro-life votes since 1997, including a vote against Roe v. Wade. The NRLC has a document that you can view, copy and distribute freely that states the positions of John McCain. You can find it at:

NARAL has stated that John McCain is no friend to those in the pro-choice/pro-abortion movement. He has a rating of 0% since 2001 (8 years of records listed on their website).
I think one of the major points is the conservative supreme court justices that the next president will have an opportunity to appoint. Will he appoint conservative or liberal; pro-life or pro-choice judges? I believe McCain would appoint pro-life judges.
