What to do with all the old shoes...

We head out soon for our next trip to Costa Rica. We are so excited to get a chance to visit our friends there. I keep up with a lady from the area who does some very tangible work for the indigenous children in the area. She helps them with education, clothing & shoes. I wrote to her and asked if there was anything that we could bring to her. Here is what she replied to me:
"HI, We would love to have your children's old shoes. Our rural kids range from toddlers up to about age 15. We can find feet for every size. We always need white uniform shirts, navy pants and skirts. Sweatshirts are in great demand as well, it is cold up in the mountains. We wear sweatshirts to bed most every night. Our rural and indigenous neighbors are not so lucky, they are cold." Ginnee

If you find that your children have outgrown their shoes or sweatshirts and would like to send them to the children in village. Please get them to me by March 15th. I will be happy to take them for you.

I pray that we will be given many more opportunities to love and serve people during our time in Costa Rica.

Deee-lish-LA!

George is at that wonderful age when he says all kinds of precious and hilarious things everyday. Yesterday he said "Mommy, this is Dee-lish-LA!" He is always telling me how much he loves me and how pretty I am. All I can say is, "This boy is DEE-LISH-LA!!!!"

Me vs The Fly Lady

I really love things to be organized. It doesn't keep me awake at night to know that my closet or not organized, but I do like it. I just seem to have trouble keeping it that way. You know my mom IS The Fly Lady. (isn't she pretty?)
She is great to teach me all kinds of organizing tricks! But, I am always at war with The Fly Lady inside me and my lazy other side. So, I thought I would share a couple of real life examples I found in my own house....

Happy New Year

I have finally come out from under my piles of paper to say Happy New Year. I was recently possessed by Martha Stewart, Aunt Annie & The Fly-lady all in one weekend. I spent the entire weekend organizing our piles of paper all over the place. I actually baked home made biscuits and pizza! I have to do something with all that flour. It won't make it until next December will it? Maybe tomorrow we will make play-dough. Tonight when Chandler returned home from gymnastics, I gave her brownies to celebrate back to school. She said "Mom, did you bake again?" Nope, Aunt Annie left me and these were from a box, but it is the thought that counts right? We had a successful day returning to our schedule and I am exhausted! It feels better to enter a new year with all my ducks in a row.
